Our Commitment

At BHHR, our goal is to find Cookie a true forever home where she will be loved, respected, and cared for throughout her life. All horses adopted through our rescue are placed with a buyback contract, ensuring they always have a safe place to return if circumstances change. We are not seeking a home that intends to resell or flip her.

We will continue working with Cookie and advancing her training until the perfect match comes along.

Interested in meeting Cookie? We invite potential adopters to complete our adoption application and learn more about whether Cookie may be the right fit for their family. She has a lot of love to give and is ready for the next chapter of her journey.

Christmas

Christmas

Percheron Mare | Approx. 16.3 HH | Adoption Fee: $1,500

About Christmas

Christmas is a beautiful Percheron mare with the sweet, gentle nature that makes draft horses so easy to fall in love with. She came to Brimley Haven Horse Rescue needing a safe place to land and has since become a very special part of our herd.

Christmas is also the proud mama of Zohar, a colt born here at Brimley Haven on April 15, 2026. She has been an excellent mother and has handled all of the changes that have come her way with a kind and willing disposition.

She is a big, beautiful mare with a lot of presence, but underneath her size is a genuinely sweet horse who deserves a wonderful forever home.

Things to Know

Christmas does have a history of intermittent hind-end lameness and will be adopted with full disclosure of everything we know about her. Because of this, we are looking for a home that is comfortable putting her needs first and understands that her future riding ability may be limited. She is on cosequin daily, and will need to continue that in her new home.

We would love to see Christmas in a home where she can enjoy a quieter lifestyle with plenty of turnout, companionship and individual attention. She could make a wonderful companion horse and may be suitable for light riding if cleared by a veterinarian and comfortable.

Her Ideal Home

Christmas’s perfect home will be one that:

  • Understands and appreciates draft horses

  • Provides plenty of turnout and quality forage

  • Is willing to appropriately manage her hoof and veterinary needs

  • Does not expect her to perform through discomfort

  • Is looking for a horse to truly become part of the family

  • Will provide her with a safe, permanent home

Adoption

Adoption Fee: $1,500

Christmas will be placed through BHHR’s adoption process. An approved home and adoption agreement will be required.

Our goal is not simply to find Christmas a home—we want to find her home. A place where she will be loved, cared for and appreciated for exactly who she is.
